Campos Obama Blend

17Jun08

This morning I dropped by Campos Coffee in Newtown, my favourite coffee bar in Sydney, and noticed that they’d come out with a new coffee blend… The Obama Blend!

Campos Obama Blend
Campos Superior Blend and The Obama Blend at Campos Coffee

It’s described as:

Great depth of character, strong, and eloquent. This very appealing blend unites coffees from Africa and the Americas to produce a cup which has gotten us excited. Formidable middle palate flavours, syrupy with an uplifting finish. Excellent choice for going forward and ideal for those looking for change.

Now are they describing Barack Obama or the coffee blend? =)

Didn’t get a chance, unfortunately, because I only saw it after I’d ordered my cappuccino. But I do think that it’s change we can believe in!

Did you notice that “Continantal Espresso” is no longer sold there?
Did you notice an eery familiarity between the two blends? So similar that one might make the conclusion that it’s just continental espresso with a new label.
Does that mean that Barack Obama is just another self-important candidate with a shiny outer label?
    Talk about spin….

Admittedly I haven’t noticed the disappearance of Continental Espresso – I prefer Campos Superior Blend anyway. I’m also not sure about the similarity between the blends. Their website describes The Continental Espresso as: “A straight shooting, old school espresso blend! No bells or whistles, this blend aims for the central palet with body. Syruppy texture provided by the finest Brazil, with mid body flavours enhanced by Colombian and a darker PNG. Formidable strength and integrity of character- this is the coffee you fell in love with in Rome.”

But yes, politicians will be politicians…
